Ingredients

  • For making Ragi rice string Hopper for 4


  • 1 cup Ragi flour


  • 1 cup rice flour


  • 1/4 teaspoon jeera powder


  • 2 teaspoon oil


  • 6 cups water


  • 1/2 teaspoon salt


  • Ingredients for making Sodhi for 4


  • 1 coconut (extract first milk and second and keep aside)


  • 1/2 Cup chopped beans


  • 1/4 Cup peas


  • 1/4 Cup chopped carrot


  • 1 potato big chopped


  • 1/ 4 teaspoon cumin powder


  • 3 green chillies


  • 1 by 4 inch piece Ginger


  • 1/4 teaspoon mustard seed


  • 1/ 4 teaspoon jeera seeds


  • 1 teaspoon oil


  • 2 sprigs curry leaves


  • 1/2 lemon


  • Coconut milk for 4


  • 1 coconut


  • 4 cardamom


  • 4 tablespoon sugar Palm sugar

Directions

  • For making stringhoppers boil 3 cups of water with salt. Add jeera powder to the Ragi flour and pour boiling water and mix well till stiff malleable dough.
  • Grease oil in stringhoppers plate and string hoppers press.
  • Press the dough and steam for 8 to 10 minutes .Follow the same method with rice flour. Healthy Ragi and rice stringhoppers mixed with jeera powder which helps digestion for elderly people is ready to serve.
  • For making Sodhi boil all the vegetables together .In a pan add oil on a medium heat .Add mustard seed, cumin and curry leaves to it. Let it splutter
  • Add boiled vegetables and add second pressed coconut milk .Let it boil for 2 minutes .
  • Now add first pressed coconut milk and immediately switch off the flame .Add a dash of lemon juice .Simple healthy Sodhi is ready.
  • For making coconut milk grate coconut and add water and press the milk for 2 times
  • To it add crushed cardamom and sugar or palm sugar to taste.
  • Fresh coconut milk for stringhoppers is ready . Traditional healthy comfort food for all is ready to consume
